The Swarm

The Swarm is a steel roller coaster at Thorpe Park with a wing-seating configuration where riders sit on both sides of the track. The track spans approximately 775 meters and includes four inversions, reaching speeds of 95 kilometers per hour.

The coaster received approval from Runnymede Borough Council in 2011, with construction starting that same year. It opened to the public in 2012 following completion of the track and test runs.

The ride area is designed as a disaster scene with aircraft debris and destroyed vehicles surrounding the station. Visitors move through this staged environment, which gives the experience a narrative quality.

The attraction offers multiple queue options for visitors depending on their time and budget. Most rides last just a few minutes, though wait times vary throughout the day depending on crowds.

This coaster's design includes the first dive drop of its wing-seating type, where the track plunges under an aircraft wing before entering a zero-gravity roll. This particular maneuver sequence is distinctive to this ride and creates an unusual moment in the experience.
