Foamhenge, Stonehenge replica at Cox Farms, Centreville, Virginia
Foamhenge is a full-scale replica built in Centreville using painted foam blocks that convincingly mimic the famous English monument. The blocks are assembled to create a stone-like appearance that fools the eye from a distance.
The artwork was created in 2004 at Natural Bridge before being moved to Cox Farms in 2016. This relocation brought it to a more accessible location for visitors to experience.
The structure mirrors the astronomical alignments of the original, helping visitors grasp how ancient builders worked. People come here to see how the site tracks celestial movements throughout the year.
Access to the installation is available during the Cox Farms Fall Festival and additional Saturday viewings occur during warmer months. Check opening times before visiting as hours vary throughout the year.
The entire structure was assembled in just ten days, demonstrating the speed of modern construction techniques. Industrial foam blocks were used to create a deceptively stone-like appearance.
