Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad, Heritage railroad in Lebanon, Ohio.
The Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad is a working heritage railway in southwestern Ohio that operates scenic train rides along a 25-mile route. The line connects three towns - Lebanon, Mason, and Monroe - using track sections that date back to the 1800s.
The railway began in 1881 as the Cincinnati Lebanon and Northern Railway, originally operating on narrow gauge track. In 1884, the line was converted to standard gauge, allowing it to connect with the broader rail network of the time.
The railroad preserves vintage Pullman passenger cars from the 1930s that once served the Lackawanna Railroad in New Jersey. These restored vehicles let visitors experience rail travel as it was during that era.
Train rides depart from the downtown Lebanon station and operate mainly on weekends from Easter through December. Plan your visit in advance since the schedule changes with the seasons and special events.
Throughout the year, the railroad hosts special themed rides featuring characters from children's stories and television shows that passengers recognize. These seasonal events transform ordinary train trips into memorable outings that appeal especially to families with young travelers.
