Table Rock Lake

Table Rock Lake is a reservoir in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri that spans several counties and forms long branches into wooded valleys. The water is framed by steep rock walls that rise directly from the surface and carry dense vegetation along the banks.

The dam was built in the nineteen fifties as part of a regional program to control flooding that regularly affected the White River valley. After completion, the valley filled over several months and transformed former settlements and forests into a permanent body of water.

The reservoir has become a gathering point for family holidays and boaters who bring their own watercraft and use the sheltered coves for an entire day. The name comes from a marked rock platform still visible near the shoreline today.

Those who wish to visit the reservoir will find numerous public access points and launch ramps distributed along the entire shoreline. Most facilities remain open throughout the year, with spring and autumn offering quieter conditions and fewer crowds.

Old tree stumps and foundations of former buildings still lie beneath the surface and form artificial reefs that attract fish. Divers occasionally explore these submerged remains when the water is clear enough and visibility permits.
