Common Ground, Shopping center in Jayang-dong, South Korea.
Common Ground comprises approximately 200 shipping containers arranged to form multiple retail areas, including Street Market and Market Hall, along with a central courtyard. The containers create distinct spaces for shops and restaurants within a unified layout.
It opened in April 2015 and introduced the concept of container-based retail spaces to South Korea. Since then, it has become the largest facility of its kind in the country, setting new standards for retail design.
It serves as a stage for emerging brands and designers, with rotating pop-up shops that display contemporary Korean fashion trends. You can watch how local creators present their work and interact with visitors in these spaces.
It is located near Konkuk University Station and is accessible daily. Opening hours are typically from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with some restaurants remaining open longer on weekends.
A section called Terrace Market brings together small independent brands from various Seoul neighborhoods, including Hongdae, Itaewon, and Garosu-gil. This collection shows how local makers from across the city offer their products in one centralized space.
