Oceanside Beach State Recreation Site, State beach park in Oceanside, Oregon
Oceanside Beach State Recreation Site is a 7-acre coastal park situated between the Pacific Ocean and steep residential cliffs, featuring sandy beaches and ocean views. The site connects the main beach to the northern Tunnel Beach area through a walkway carved into Maxwell Point.
The park began in 1968 when Orin and Lorraine Rosenburg donated land that included Maxwell Point and the beach tunnel. Their donation established the foundation for this publicly accessible coastal space.
The rocky islands offshore serve as a protected breeding ground for seabirds and sea lions that visitors can observe from the shore. These nesting sites are central to the local marine environment and draw wildlife watchers.
The beach is accessible year-round, with winter months offering the best conditions for agate hunting. Watch for uneven terrain on the cliffs and check tides before heading to Tunnel Beach.
Paraglider pilots regularly land on this beach during southwest wind conditions from fall through spring. These flight events create an unexpected and colorful display over the water.
