Palçıq vulkanı Hökməli

This natural formation expels mud, gas, and water through a cone-shaped structure that rises from the ground in the western part of the Absheron Peninsula.

The volcano has been active since the 19th century, contributing to Azerbaijan's recognition as home to one-third of the world's known mud volcanoes.

Local communities have long used the mineral-rich mud from this volcano for therapeutic treatments of joint problems and skin conditions.

Visitors can observe the volcanic activity from a safe distance, with regular gas and mud emissions occurring throughout the year.

The mud expelled by the Hokmali volcano contains methane and various hydrocarbons, indicating connections to underground oil and gas deposits.
