La Sebastiana, Museum in Cerro Bellavista, Valparaíso, Chile.
This five-story museum occupies the former home of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, featuring irregular architecture with multiple terraces, nautical-style windows, and panoramic views of Valparaíso's bay and port from its upper floors.
Originally constructed by Spanish builder Sebastián Collado in the 1940s and left incomplete after his death, the house was purchased by Pablo Neruda in 1959, who completed and inhabited it until 1973.
The interior displays Neruda's personal collections including antique maps, maritime paintings, a portrait of Walt Whitman, wooden carousel figures, and various curiosities that reflect the poet's creative spirit and interests.
The museum opens Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with admission priced at approximately 7,000 Chilean pesos (about $7.20) for adults and reduced rates for seniors and students.
Neruda designed the house with ship porthole-style skylights and a telescope in the upper tower, allowing him to watch the port activities and New Year's fireworks displays over the bay below.
