Pardubice, Administrative center in Eastern Bohemia, Czech Republic

Located at the intersection of the Elbe and Chrudimka rivers, Pardubice extends across multiple districts with a mix of historical and modern neighborhoods at 220 meters elevation.

The city received municipal rights in 1340 and underwent substantial development after 1491 when Vilém II of Pernštejn transformed the medieval fortress into a grand residence.

The Museum of East Bohemia, housed within Pardubice Castle, displays regional artifacts and historical collections documenting the development of Eastern Bohemia through centuries.

The main railway station serves as a central transportation hub, connecting the city to Prague, located 90 kilometers west, and other major Czech destinations.

The Pardubice Steeplechase, established in 1874, takes place annually at the local racecourse, featuring one of the most demanding horse racing tracks in Europe.
