Royal Selangor Golf Club, Historic golf course in central Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Royal Selangor Golf Club is a golf facility in central Kuala Lumpur with two 18-hole championship courses and one 9-hole course. The grounds sit within the city itself, surrounded by urban development, giving the place a rare open feel for a dense capital.
The club was founded in 1893 during the British colonial period, making it one of the oldest golf facilities in Asia. Over the following decades it grew into a place where regional golf competitions were regularly held.
The club has long been a gathering place for Kuala Lumpur's professional and social circles, where membership carries a certain weight. The clubhouse itself is a place where business and leisure mix in a way that feels very much part of the city's fabric.
The club sits at the junction of Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Tun Razak and is easy to reach by car or taxi from most parts of the city. It is a private club, so non-members should check access conditions before planning a visit.
In 1961 the club hosted the first international golf tournament in Southeast Asia, bringing together teams from seven countries in the region. That event is considered a starting point for organized regional golf competition, a history many visitors are unaware of.
