Berjaya Times Square is a 48-storey twin tower rising 203 m in Bukit Bintang, opened in 2003. Its base holds a 19-storey shopping mall with over 1,000 retail shops, 65 food outlets and an indoor theme park, while the two towers above carry the hotel's 1,200 service suites and offices.
The site held the bungalow of tin-mining millionaire and philanthropist Cheong Yoke Choy before World War II; his descendants sold the land to Tan Sri Vincent Tan's Berjaya Group. Construction was hit by the 1997 Asian financial crisis and stalled for four years, so the RM1 billion complex opened on 29 September 2003, inaugurated by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.
The shopping center brings together Malaysian retailers and global brands in one location, where visitors encounter traditional crafts alongside contemporary products. This mix of local stores and international chains shapes the everyday shopping experience for many people in the city.
The complex is accessible via the Imbi Monorail station or Bukit Bintang MRT station, with 4,300 parking spaces available on-site for visitors traveling by car. It is recommended to arrive by public transit, as parking can become limited during peak hours.
The indoor theme park, Cosmo's World, holds Asia's longest roller coaster track and is split into Fantasy Island and Galaxy Station; the latter admits only visitors over 13 who meet a height requirement. The mall's 10th floor also has a GSC MAXX hall with a 23-metre screen, Malaysia's largest cinema screen.
