Telekom Museum, Telecommunications museum in Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Telekom Museum sits on the second floor of a neoclassical building with eight columns and features multiple rooms showing different phases of communication technology. The space displays documents and equipment that were used throughout Malaysia's telecommunications history.
The building was constructed in 1928 as a manual telephone exchange office and served as a working telecommunications hub for many years. It was later converted into a museum to preserve the heritage of this important infrastructure.
The museum displays how Malaysian communication evolved from traditional methods through telegraph operations to modern digital networks. You can see how technology gradually transformed the way people stayed connected.
The museum is located about 450 meters from Masjid Jamek LRT station and is easy to reach on foot. Entry is free, and regular opening hours make it possible to visit at your own pace.
Visitors can actually interact with preserved telephone switchboards and see how operators once manually connected calls by hand. This hands-on experience reveals a nearly forgotten method of routing communications.
