Hatta Dam

Hatta Dam is an artificial lake situated in the mountainous region southeast of Dubai, surrounded by the Hajar range. The water spreads across several kilometers with views of rocky slopes and open desert landscape from most vantage points.

The dam was constructed in the late 1990s to store water for agricultural use and regional needs. This project marked an important step in Dubai's modern water management infrastructure.

The dam area functions as a gathering point where local residents participate in outdoor activities while maintaining traditional connections to the land.

Visitors can rent kayaks and use designated picnic areas by the water, with parking available near the main entrance. The best time to visit is during cooler months from November through March when temperatures are more comfortable.

The reservoir feeds a hydroelectric station that generates power during peak demand hours by releasing stored water. This system demonstrates how the location connects energy production with water supply management.
