Logar Province

Logar Province is located in eastern Afghanistan at an elevation of approximately 2,370 meters and spans seven administrative districts. The landscape features agricultural lands, rivers, and mountains that define the region's appearance and structure.

During the Soviet-Afghan War in the 1980s, the province became a central battleground between Soviet forces and resistance groups. This intense conflict led to significant regional changes and transformations.

The population consists of Pashtun and Tajik communities who maintain their traditions through farming, trade, and local craft production. These groups shape daily life through their customs and economic activities across the region.

The Kabul-Gardez-Khost highway connects the province through Mohammad Agha and Pul-e Alam districts, facilitating movement and trade between cities. Visitors should familiarize themselves with local road conditions before traveling through the region.

Archaeologists discovered at Mes Aynak a Zoroastrian fire temple dating back about 2,600 years along with Buddhist structures and ancient coins from multiple periods. This archaeological collection reveals the long history of different cultures and religions that passed through the region.
