Paghman Hill Castle, Palace complex in Paghman, Afghanistan.
Paghman Hill Castle is a three-story building in Paghman, Afghanistan, constructed with marble walls and timber elements brought from Kunar Province. Beyond the main structure, the grounds include a Buzkashi field, waterfall features, and spaces where local products are put on display.
The complex was built in the early 2010s as part of a broader effort to develop official buildings in Afghanistan. Its completion was one of the more visible construction projects in the Kabul region during that period.
Inside the palace, handwoven carpets from different regions of Afghanistan are on display, showing patterns and colors that reflect local craft traditions. The complex also serves as a venue for national celebrations, where visitors can see local products brought in from across the country.
The site is best explored during daylight, when the marble surfaces and waterfall features are easy to see and the grounds are in use. The grounds cover multiple levels, so comfortable footwear makes the visit much easier.
A double row of trees lines the path to the main entrance, shaping the first impression visitors get as they approach the building. The trees were planted young and are meant to change the look of the grounds gradually over many years.
