Palacio Vergara

Palacio Vergara is a large residential palace in Viña del Mar built with Gothic-Venetian design features including pointed arches, ornate railings, and decorative details across its exterior. The structure sits within a spacious park that contains sculptures, fountains, and various walking trails throughout the grounds.

After the 1906 earthquake, Blanca Vergara de Errázuriz had an Italian architect design this palace, which was finished in 1910. The project represented the family's effort to rebuild and create a statement of wealth and status in the recovering city.

The palace now houses a fine arts museum where you can see period furniture and decorative objects collected over generations. Walking through the rooms, you experience how a wealthy family lived and displayed their taste during the early 20th century.

Visitors can walk through the interior rooms and explore the park with its various pathways and garden areas. Wearing comfortable shoes is helpful since there is quite a bit of walking involved to see everything.

The interior features tapestries woven with gold and silk threads on the walls, while the floors display intricate parquet patterns throughout. These crafted details are often overlooked but create a striking sense of luxury in every room.
