Palacio Riesco, Historic palace in Huechuraba, Chile
Palacio Riesco is a two-story neoclassical building with a grand salon in imperial style, illuminated by art-nouveau stained glass windows and decorated with parquet flooring. The property contains multiple rooms connected through corridors that lead to three towers.
Alberto Riesco Errázuriz commissioned engineer José Ramón Herrera Lira in 1917 to build the palace on land with a previous ownership history. The structure rose during a period when Chilean elites were constructing grand residences with international design influences.
The building reflects the preferences of Chilean high society in the early modern era, blending French neoclassical elements with contemporary design trends of its time. Visitors can see how these architectural choices expressed the lifestyle and status of its inhabitants.
The estate is located in Huechuraba and can be visited from public areas, though accessibility may vary depending on current conditions. Visitors should check on-site information since the property is protected and subject to varying public access policies.
The palace sits on a ridge surrounded by century-old trees, including palms, pines, and native Chilean species that frame the building's setting. These mature trees have become an integral part of the landscape surrounding the structure.
