Inkariy Museum, Art museum in Calca District, Peru.
Inkariy Museum is an art museum in Calca with nine exhibition rooms showcasing ancient Peruvian cultures from the Caral period through the Inca Empire. The collection includes sculptures, dioramas, ceramics, textiles, and archaeological artifacts from multiple cultures across this timespan.
The museum was founded in 2002 by the Mérida family to preserve and present 5000 years of Peruvian civilizations through detailed exhibitions. It documents the development of these societies across many epochs.
Each exhibition room presents different aspects of Pre-Columbian societies, showing religious practices, agricultural techniques, and artistic developments across the periods. Visitors can directly observe how these ancient cultures organized their daily lives and what mattered to them.
The museum sits about 53 kilometers between Calca and Urubamba along the road connecting the two towns. Daytime visits are feasible, and visitors should expect different admission rates for local residents and international guests.
The entrance features a monumental sculpture of Wiracocha, the highest deity in Andean cosmology. This striking statue prepares visitors for the spiritual significance explored throughout the exhibitions inside.
