Pampa Hermosa National Sanctuary

The Pampa Hermosa National Sanctuary extends across 11,543 hectares of montane forests between the provinces of Tarma and Chanchamayo in central Peru.

The Peruvian government established this protected area on March 26, 2009, to preserve native mountain forests and maintain ecological balance in the Junín region.

SERNANP manages this sanctuary as part of Peru's national strategy to protect natural areas while supporting environmental research and education initiatives.

Visitors can explore hiking trails through different elevation zones ranging from 1,340 to 3,960 meters while observing local wildlife in their natural environment.

The sanctuary houses rare species including the Andean cock-of-the-rock, spectacled bear, Junín red squirrel, and valuable tree species like Cedrela angustifolia.
