Estadio Chan Chan, Sports stadium in Trujillo, Peru
Estadio Chan Chan is a sports stadium in Trujillo with a grass field, an athletic track, and grandstands holding about 5,500 spectators. The facility sits within the Mochica Chimu Sports Complex and serves soccer matches and track and field competitions.
The stadium opened in 2013 and immediately served as a key venue for the XVII Bolivarian Games that same year. It was built from the start as a central sports complex for regional competitions.
The stadium takes its name from Chan Chan, the ancient capital of the Chimu civilization located near Trujillo. This name links the modern sports facility to the region's rich pre-colonial past.
The complex is located on Avenida America Sur in Trujillo and is easily accessible on foot. The venue is most active on days when events are held.
The athletic track hosted the 2018 Ibero-American Athletics Championships, bringing together competitors from Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries. This event brought international recognition to the local complex.
