Casa Urquiaga, Neoclassical mansion in Trujillo, Peru
The Casa Urquiaga features Doric columns, wrought iron windows, and three courtyards with distinct architectural elements, including a central fountain and ornate galleries.
In 1604, the Trujillo Council selected this residence to host Viceroy Gaspar de Zuniga y Acevedo, and later Simon Bolivar used it during Peru's independence campaign.
The mansion displays pre-Inca Chimu artifacts, colonial furniture, Persian carpets, gold-framed mirrors, and an extensive collection of Chinese and English dinnerware.
Visitors can access guided tours of the museum, which now serves as a branch of Peru's Central Reserve Bank in downtown Trujillo.
The residence contains Simon Bolivar's 18th-century mahogany desk and two military banners featuring the Royal Arms of King Charles III of Spain.
