Huacas de Moche Museum

The Huacas de Moche Museum is an archaeological museum in La Libertad dedicated to displaying findings from the local ancient site. The facility spans over 1,000 square meters (11,000 square feet) and houses exhibition halls, a community area, a research center, and a theater.

The museum was established in 2010 to showcase discoveries from excavations at the Moche site, then renamed in 2018 to honor its director Santiago Uceda Castillo. This change reflected a shift toward recognizing the people behind decades of archaeological work at the location.

The three exhibition rooms showcase Moche life through objects found in tombs, homes, and ritual spaces, revealing how people lived and what roles different members of society held. Visitors can observe pottery, textiles, and tools that show daily routines and spiritual beliefs of this ancient civilization.
