Julcán Province

The Julcán Province occupies 1,101 square kilometers of land at an elevation of 3,404 meters in northern Peru's La Libertad department.

After Peru gained independence in the early 19th century, Julcán Province became one of twelve administrative divisions within the La Libertad department.

The population of 35,438 residents in Julcán Province maintains traditional Andean practices across its four districts: Julcán, Calamarca, Carabamba, and Huaso.

The province capital, Julcán city, serves as the administrative center for government services and is located 177 kilometers from Lima at coordinates 8°03′S 78°30′W.
