Huacaloma

The site contains rectangular stone platforms with water channels and ritual hearths spread across twenty hectares of ceremonial structures at 2800 meters elevation.

Between 1979 and 1989, Japanese archaeologists from Tokyo conducted five excavation campaigns, revealing the site's occupation from 1500 BCE to 50 BCE.

Ancient inhabitants constructed multiple temples with ceremonial fire pits and decorated walls featuring geometric patterns, felines, birds, and serpent motifs.

The archaeological complex lies 3.5 kilometers southeast of central Cajamarca, facing current challenges from urban development and preservation needs.

The site features monoliths depicting crouching human figures and an impressive structure measuring 108 by 120 meters with an 8-meter height.
