Vicente López Partido

Vicente López Partido is an administrative district in Buenos Aires Province that spreads across 33 square kilometers along the Río de la Plata coastline. The area encompasses nine neighborhoods, including Olivos, Florida, and La Lucila, each with its own character and function.

The partition was officially established on December 21, 1905 through provincial law 2959 and named after Vicente López y Planes, author of Argentina's national anthem. This naming honors a significant figure in the country's foundational history.

The population of this district reflects strong European roots, with many residents descended from Italian, Spanish, German, Polish, Ukrainian, and Armenian immigrants. This diverse heritage shapes daily life and community identity in the area today.

The district connects to Buenos Aires through several transportation links, including the General Belgrano Railway, General Mitre Railway, and major avenues such as Maipú and del Libertador. These connections make it easy to move around the area and reach nearby cities.

The region is home to the Quinta Presidencial in Olivos, which has served as the official residence of Argentine presidents since 1918. Though situated within the urban area, this historic estate remains largely off-limits to the public.
