Arroyo 910, Historical embassy building in Retiro, Argentina.
Arroyo 910 is an academicist building in Retiro with classical proportions and ornately crafted stone facade. The main floors feature tall ceilings and decorative stone elements that reflect the carefully planned design throughout.
The building was constructed in 1925 by architect Alejandro Virasoro for aristocrat Enrique Lastra. It later served as the Israeli Embassy, functioning as an important diplomatic center until 1992.
The building reflects a period when European architectural styles shaped the homes of Buenos Aires' wealthy residents. You can see these influences in the elegant proportions and carefully crafted details of its facade.
The building stands at the corner of Arroyo and Suipacha streets with direct access to multiple bus lines. Plaza San Martin is within walking distance and the area is easy to explore on foot.
The original crystal chandelier and menorah from the embassy period unexpectedly survived the 1992 incident. These objects remain as preserved artifacts that tell the story of the building's diplomatic past.
