Praia de Itacoatiara

Praia de Itacoatiara is a beach in Niterói that stretches roughly 700 meters along the Atlantic coastline. The shore features fine golden sand, clear blue water, and rocky outcrops that frame both ends of the beach.

The name comes from indigenous languages and means "written rock" or "engraved stone," reflecting the geological features that have always marked this location. These rock formations have served as natural landmarks in the region for generations.

The beach serves as a social hub where young locals and surfers gather regularly throughout the day. People come here to spend time by the water and experience the relaxed rhythm of coastal life that defines the place.

The beach is best visited in early morning or late afternoon when the water is calmer and fewer people are present. Visitors should know that the rock formations divide the beach into zones with different conditions for swimming and water activities.

The beach has three distinct surfing zones called Costão, Meio, and Pampo, each with different wave patterns and characteristics. These separate areas allow both experienced and beginner surfers to find a zone suited to their skill level depending on conditions.
