The museum collection contains over 2,000 items, featuring Parreiras' paintings alongside works from Brazilian and international artists of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The museum operates under the Rio de Janeiro State Arts Foundation management and offers guided tours, lectures, and temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
The main building, designed by architect Ramos de Azevedo in 1894, holds historical importance as one of his notable works in Rio's metropolitan region.
