Tour Girasoles, Skyscraper in San Jorge district, La Paz, Bolivia
Torre Girasoles is a 40-storey skyscraper on Avenida 6 de Agosto in the San Jorge neighbourhood of La Paz, rising 155 metres. Most of the tower is residential, with offices, a hotel and a shopping centre on the lower floors. Four underground levels hold 180 parking spaces arranged in a spiral, and the structure includes a seismic-resistant system and a backup generator.
Construction started in 2010 and finished in 2013, making it Bolivia's tallest building at the time of completion. The project became an important milestone in the country's modern urban development.
The tower marks a turning point in how La Paz develops its skyline, showing the city's shift toward modern high-rise construction. You can see this change reflected in the contrast between this building and the older architecture surrounding it.
The building sits in a central location that is easy to reach, with several street-level entrances providing direct access. If you drive, underground parking is available, and the complex is welcoming to pedestrians walking through or around it.
The tower's 180 parking spaces are arranged on four underground levels that rise in a spiral, so drivers climb between floors rather than switch back on flat ramps. A backup generator keeps the 155-metre building powered during local outages, and the structure is built to resist earthquakes.
