Egerton University, public university in Kenya
Egerton University Nakuru Town Campus is a public university campus located in the center of Nakuru, Kenya, offering degree and diploma programs across several academic fields. The campus has lecture halls, libraries, computer labs, and an on-site radio station used for both teaching and local broadcasting.
The campus was founded in 2001 as part of an effort to bring higher education closer to the Nakuru region. By 2011, it had grown enough to become a fully independent campus college with its own administration and a broader range of programs.
The campus runs its own radio station, operated by students as both a training space and a working local broadcaster. Visitors passing through can see how students handle real on-air work as part of their daily studies.
The campus is in the center of Nakuru, so it is easy to reach by public transport, taxi, or on foot from most parts of town. Classes run at different times of day and on weekends, which means the campus stays active well into the evening.
Egerton Radio 101.7 FM is a fully licensed broadcaster that students run as a real station, not just a practice facility. This means that while still studying, students go live on air and reach actual listeners across the Nakuru area.
