Central Sumba Regency

Central Sumba Regency is an administrative region on the island of Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara. The area consists of several rural districts spread across the island with a network of smaller towns and villages serving as local centers.

The regency was created through administrative division in 2007, splitting off from an earlier larger district. This reorganization established new governance boundaries for the central portion of the island.

Local communities maintain traditional Sumbanese ceremonies and festivals throughout the districts of Katikutana, Mamboro, and Umbu Ratu Nggay regions.

Visitors should know that this region consists mainly of agricultural communities accessible by road, with basic services found in the district centers. Planning a visit during drier months makes travel easier and more comfortable.

Each district center maintains specific functions, from Anakalang in Katikutana to Mananga in Mamboro, forming a network of local governance structures.
