Parakan

Parakan extends across 22.23 square kilometers of land on the slopes of Mount Sindoro-Sumbing, containing sixteen different villages at an elevation of 1670 meters.

During Indonesia's independence struggle, Parakan gained recognition as the origin of sharpened bamboo spears, led by K.H. Subchi who became known as the Bamboo Spear General.

The district maintains strong agricultural traditions with farmers cultivating tobacco, coffee, and vegetables while participating in regular community markets and festivals.

The district connects to major transportation routes between Wonosobo, Yogyakarta, and Semarang, making it accessible for visitors exploring Central Java's highland regions.

Local residents practice traditional performances including Kubro dance with masks, Jaran Kepang horse dances, and Ndibak Islamic praise ceremonies.
