Broadbeach

Broadbeach is a residential area on the Gold Coast with modern apartment towers, houses, and a network of canals connected to the Nerang River. The district stretches along the beachfront and combines residential neighborhoods with shopping and dining facilities.

The area underwent transformation in the early 1900s through sand mining activities that converted coastal forests into flat sandy plains. It later developed into a populated residential district with mixed housing and commercial purposes.

The Kombumerri Aboriginal people maintained a burial ground near Mermaid Waters, used continuously from 1300 years ago until the 1800s.

The Oasis Shopping Centre contains over 100 stores and restaurants for shopping and dining needs. The G:link train station and bus lines connect the area to the broader Gold Coast region.

A seal sculpture by Len Shillam from 1954 now stands at the Gold Coast Convention Centre after being relocated from its original location. This small public art piece preserves a piece of the area's creative history that many visitors walk past without noticing.
