St Mary's Anglican Church, Kangaroo Point, Anglican church in Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, Australia
St Mary's Anglican Church is a stone building in Kangaroo Point with walls made of Brisbane tuff and Gothic Revival features arranged in a cruciform design near the Brisbane River. Inside, the space is organized with traditional Anglican elements and architectural details from that period.
This building opened in 1873 and replaced an earlier timber church that stood on the site from 1849. Architect Richard George Suter designed it, with builder Alfred Grant overseeing its construction.
The Warriors' Chapel inside holds memorials for naval incidents such as HMAS Voyager, reflecting the community's connection to maritime history. Plaques throughout the gardens honor those who served in the military.
Visitors typically attend on Sundays or during the monthly gatherings that happen regularly. The location near the river offers views and is relatively easy to reach from the city center.
The building houses Queensland's oldest pipe organ, brought from London in 1876. The instrument has gone through several restorations to keep it in working condition and preserve its age.
