Lockerbie Scrub

Lockerbie Scrub is a nature preserve at the northern tip of Queensland, consisting of closed forest and woodland areas. The landscape is surrounded by tropical savanna and creates a striking contrast with its surroundings.

The area gained recognition in 1976 through a national park proposal and was nominated for the Register of National Estate in 1980. This acknowledgment helped protect the land and its features for future generations.

The Gudang people hold deep connections to this land and use various plant species for traditional purposes that remain important today. The landscape itself tells the story of this long relationship between people and nature.
