Estadio Akron, Football stadium in Zapopan, Mexico
Estadio Akron is a football stadium in Zapopan, part of the Guadalajara metropolitan area, serving as home to one of Mexico's best-known clubs. The structure displays curved forms and large glass sections, while seating spreads across several tiers with room for nearly 50,000 spectators.
Construction began in February 2004 and finished with the opening on July 30, 2010, when the ground replaced the longtime former home. Completion marked the start of a new chapter for the club and its many followers across the region.
Supporters call the ground "la casa del rebaño," a name tied to the team's animal emblem. On match days the stands turn red and white as fans chant traditional songs from the region.
The ground sits on Avenida Circuito JVC 2800 and offers parking areas along with food stands for visitors. On match days public transport runs directly to the entrance, making arrival easy without a private car.
After the opening, teams initially played on artificial turf, but natural grass replaced it in 2012. The change came after players who competed at the ground expressed their preference for a real surface.
