Studio City is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley between the Santa Monica Mountains and Ventura Boulevard with residential streets and production studios. The area consists of low buildings with gardens, wide roads, and some larger facilities for film and television.
Mack Sennett built a film studio here in 1927, giving the area its name. The site later became CBS Studio Center, which continues operations today.
Along Ventura Boulevard, many local restaurants with outdoor seating draw people who gather for meals throughout the day. The street attracts residents who shop at small stores or have coffee in the late morning.
Hiking trails in the nearby mountains are easier to walk in the morning when temperatures are cooler. Ventura Boulevard is easy to reach by car and has wide sidewalks for walking.
Fire Station 78 became the first integrated station in the Los Angeles fire department in 1955. This building still stands on Moorpark Street and remains in service today.
