Woodland Hills, Residential neighborhood in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, US.
Woodland Hills is a residential neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley that spreads along the slopes of the Santa Monica Mountains. Wide streets with oak trees alternate with houses in Mediterranean style, while Ventura Boulevard runs through the center.
Native peoples of the Fernandeño-Tataviam and Chumash-Venturaño groups lived here for thousands of years before European settlers arrived near Arroyo Calabasas. After World War II, development began as a suburb with single-family homes.
The name recalls the oak groves that spread across gentle hills and give the streets their green character. Many residents meet at public green spaces where events take place throughout the year.
The large Westfield Topanga shopping center and the many restaurants along Ventura Boulevard are easy to reach by car. Parking is usually available, but it can get tight on weekends.
The Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve offers hiking trails through grassland that lead all the way to Topanga State Park. The trails cross natural landscapes that have remained almost unchanged.
