Indian Cove Campground, Desert campground in Joshua Tree National Park, San Bernardino County, United States.
Indian Cove Campground is a camping area in Joshua Tree National Park with 101 individual sites and 13 group sites, surrounded by large granite formations at about 3,200 feet elevation. The stone formations shape the landscape and create a unique setting with natural rock walls and geological structures.
The campground became part of Joshua Tree National Park, which was established in 1936, and has served as a destination for outdoor enthusiasts since then. It is one of the park's oldest facilities and reflects the long-term use of this desert landscape.
Rock climbers from around the world come here to test themselves on the natural granite walls and explore the many routes winding between the stones.
The site requires reservations year-round and water is only available at the ranger station about two kilometers away. Visitors should plan their equipment and supplies carefully since the nearest shops are outside the park.
The granite cliffs here display different color tones during sunrise and sunset that shift throughout the day. This color play is especially visible on clear desert days and makes each visit visually memorable.
