Templo del Calvario

Templo del Calvario is a church in Chiapa de Corzo featuring a neogothic facade and a Latin cross interior layout. Multiple altars and a curved choir section divide the space into different devotional areas for worship.

The church was originally constructed in the 17th century and received its current neogothic facade during substantial renovations in the 19th century. These changes significantly reshaped the building's exterior appearance.

The temple preserves a Renaissance-era wooden carving depicting the descent of Christ, originally belonging to the Santo Domingo Church collection.

The building sits on Avenida Julian Grajales in the San Miguel neighborhood and is easy to locate. Regular services take place here under management of the Tuxtla Gutierrez Archdiocese.

The northwest facade features a side entrance with cushioned framing and plant-based relief carvings alongside a two-part window. These decorative touches reflect craftsmanship that stands out among similar religious buildings.
