Villamaría, Administrative municipality in Centro Sur region, Colombia
The Villamaria municipality extends across 480 square kilometers of mountainous terrain at an elevation of 1,920 meters in the Caldas department.
Founded in October 1852, Villamaria developed from a small settlement into a structured municipality with defined administrative boundaries and governance systems.
The municipality forms part of the Coffee Cultural Landscape, recognized by UNESCO in 2011 for its agricultural and economic contributions to Colombia.
The municipal administration center operates from Carrera 4 Number 9 corner, providing services to over 68,000 residents across urban and rural areas.
The municipality records substantial population density variations between its urban core at 12,000 people per square kilometer and rural areas at 140 people per square kilometer.
