Texas Chute Out, Parachute drop ride at Six Flags Over Texas, United States.
Texas Chute Out was a parachute drop ride at an amusement park in Texas, where riders sat in chair-style seats attached to a tall central tower and descended slowly from a high platform to ground level. Several sets of seats were arranged around the tower, allowing multiple riders to descend at the same time.
The ride opened in 1976 and ran for several decades before it was shut down in 2012. After closing, the site was cleared to make room for a new attraction.
Every winter, the tower was decorated to look like a giant Christmas tree, lit up for the holiday season at the park. This tradition made the structure a recognizable part of the park's festive calendar for many families.
The ride was located inside an amusement park in Texas, and visiting on a dry day was a good idea since rain could affect operations. Comfortable clothing without loose items was the right choice for the descent.
During the descent, riders had an open view over much of the park and the surrounding land, something few rides of this type could offer. For many visitors, this view from above was just as memorable as the drop itself.
