Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park

The marine park spans 26 square kilometers across 21 islands and islets, protecting diverse marine species in Atlantic Ocean waters off Brazil's coast.

Portuguese explorer Gonçalo Coelho discovered the archipelago in 1503, which later served as a strategic point during colonial times and a prison facility.

Visitors must obtain an environmental preservation fee before entering the park, with strict regulations limiting daily tourist numbers to protect the ecosystem.

The park's waters contain over 300 fish species and provide nesting grounds for rare seabirds, including brown boobies and red-footed boobies.
