The Century is a 42-story tower rising in Century City that combines postmodern architecture with classical elements throughout its design. The facade and floor plans display a dialogue between geometric forms and historical design references.
The Century was developed by Related Companies on the site of the former St. Regis Los Angeles, which had been part of the Century Plaza Hotel. Designed by Robert A. M. Stern Architects, it was completed in late 2009. On July 22, 2008, Candy Spelling bought the two-floor penthouse of about 16,500 sq ft, setting a price-per-square-foot record for a Los Angeles condominium, and later sued the developers over construction delays.
The Century occupies the site of the former St. Regis Los Angeles, which was once part of the Century Plaza Hotel. Its residents have included Rihanna, Matthew Perry, Denzel Washington, Paula Abdul and Nobu Matsuhisa. Candy Spelling, widow of producer Aaron Spelling, bought the top two floors in 2008 and later sued the developers over construction delays.
