Choo-Ha

Choo-Ha is a limestone cavern with shallow pools of clear water and stalactites hanging from the ceiling throughout the chamber. The underground formation features multiple water sections separated by limestone formations.

Maya civilizations relied on water-filled caves like this one for centuries to supply their settlements with fresh water. These cenotes became essential infrastructure for communities across the region.

The underground chamber held deep spiritual meaning for the Maya people as both a practical water source and a sacred space. Locals and visitors today recognize it as a connection to pre-Hispanic traditions that shaped the region.

A staircase leads down to the water areas where changing rooms, bathrooms, and showers are available for visitors. Swimming is permitted with life jackets that are provided on site.

The water here maintains a consistently cool temperature year-round, making it refreshing even on the hottest days. Small fish species live in these clear waters and can be spotted swimming beneath you.
