Sacramento City Library, Public library in Sacramento, United States

The Sacramento City Library occupies a three-story building with Italian Renaissance architecture at 828 I Street, featuring a tall entrance connecting two structures.

Andrew Carnegie provided a grant of 100,000 dollars in the early 1900s to construct this library, which opened its doors to the public in 1918.

The Sacramento Room maintains original decorations while housing extensive collections about California and local history for researchers to study and explore.

The library provides digital media access, technology workshops, educational programs, and an online catalog system for material reservations and availability checks.

The building earned recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 as part of the government center alongside Sacramento City Hall.
