Renaissance Tower, Skyscraper in downtown Sacramento, United States
Renaissance Tower is a 28-story office skyscraper in the downtown business district of Sacramento, California. The tower is composed mainly of office floors and stands as one of the tallest structures along the city's central skyline.
The building was designed by AECOM and completed in 1989, when it was the tallest structure in Sacramento. Since then it has changed hands several times, including through a public auction, as the city's real estate market shifted over the years.
The Renaissance Tower is one of the few buildings in downtown Sacramento that draws the eye simply by its height and clean lines. At street level, shops and entrances connect it to the daily life of the surrounding neighborhood.
The tower sits on K Street in central Sacramento, surrounded by other office buildings and close to the main light rail stops. Since the building is entirely office-oriented, a visit means looking from the outside and walking the surrounding streets.
Although the Renaissance Tower held the title of tallest building in Sacramento for a time, it has since been surpassed by newer towers built after it. This shift shows how quickly downtown Sacramento changed in the decades following its construction.
