Plumas Lake is a residential community in Yuba County, California, located roughly 50 kilometers north of Sacramento. The area has grown over the past two decades with planned residential neighborhoods built on formerly marshy land.
The area faced serious flooding threats, particularly in 1986 and 1997, prompting major improvements to flood control structures. Planned development of the community began in 2003 following a comprehensive master plan created a decade earlier.
The community maintains 15 parks and the Bear River Habitat Trail, providing residents with opportunities for outdoor activities and social gatherings throughout the year.
The community sits between rural and suburban areas, making it reasonably accessible from nearby Sacramento and Marysville. Visitors will find well-maintained roads connecting the newer residential sections with local shopping and services.
