Arizona Beach State Recreation Site
Arizona Beach State Recreation Site is a 68-acre recreation area with sandy shores flanked by two rocky headlands on Oregon's southern Pacific coast. The grounds feature parking areas, picnic tables, and viewing points spread throughout the property for year-round access.
The site transitioned from private campground ownership to state management in 2008 when the Oregon Parks Department acquired the property. This shift opened the area to broader public access and established it as a protected coastal recreation site.
Seabirds nest on the offshore rocks year-round, making this a natural observatory for watching these creatures in their habitat. The sheltered waters and rocky outcrops create pockets where marine life thrives in plain view from the shore.
The site is free to access year-round, and paths are flat and wide for easy walking through the grounds. Parking is ample near the main areas, and tide pools become more exposed at low tide for further exploration.
Two creeks flow through the property bringing freshwater to the shoreline where they create small ecosystems. The flanking headlands act as natural windbreaks, making temperatures noticeably warmer here than at nearby beaches.
