The Cove Palisades State Park

The park contains Lake Billy Chinook, formed by the convergence of the Deschutes, Crooked, and Metolius Rivers, creating deep canyons and cliffs.

The park began in 1940 when the U.S. Department of Agriculture leased land in the Crooked River Canyon, followed by additional acquisitions until 1961.

The Tam-a-láu Trail leads hikers to an elevated plateau offering views of the Cascade Range and ancient geological formations of central Oregon.

Two seasonal campgrounds, Deschutes River and Crooked River, provide accommodation options while the marina offers boat rentals from April through October.

The park features a constructed wetland with cattail filtration system, established in 2001 to manage runoff and maintain fish populations in Lake Billy Chinook.
