The Cove Palisades State Park

The Cove Palisades State Park is a protected area in Oregon featuring Lake Billy Chinook, which formed when three rivers were dammed to create a large reservoir. The landscape includes steep canyon walls, rocky outcrops, and multiple arms of water that reach into narrow valleys.

The area began as a recreational site in the 1940s when the federal government started leasing and acquiring land in the river canyons. The park grew over the following decades as facilities and infrastructure were gradually added to serve visitors.
